Healthcare Business Consulting with Dr. Katherine Knight
It is a great pleasure for me to work with healing professionals who want to start, build, expand or transition a practice. I love the creative process involved, as well as the relationships I build with my clients. I am so grateful to play such an integral role for my clients and the practices they pour their hearts and souls into every day.
Having run my own practices, managed staff and providers, and all of the day to day operations, I am grounded and realistic about expectations and goals. That said, I do believe in making dreams come true and I love a challenge. One of my favorite things in life is finding ways to make possible the seemingly impossible. If there is a way, I will almost always find it.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I initially started Boulder Wellness Psychology as a solo therapy practice. However, I quickly found it lonely to work on my own, and I had a dream to build a truly unique, collaborative mental health practice that offered multiple specialties under one roof in a small, private practice setting. For this reason, I shifted my practice to a collaborative model with different therapy specialists, testing specialists, and psychiatric prescribers (psychiatrists and psychiatric NPs). I brought my vision to life when I started Stepwell Mental Health and Wellness, which I operated until the spring of 2019.
After an injury, I transitioned away from doing as much clinical work to avoid sitting in a chair for prolonged periods of time, and I have since closed my clinical practices for the next several years. This transition has allowed me to focus entirely on my consulting practice.
How I Work:
Why Work With Me?
There are so many ways in which I can lighten the load for you. Sometimes, it’s helpful just to know you have an experienced practice manager/owner to call or email when difficult situations come up. Whether you are starting a new practice for the first time, shifting to an integrative or collaborative, group model, or you simply need a sounding board as you manage the day to day projects and stressors of your current practice, I show up with presence, experience, and grounded advice when you need it the most.
A Bit About Me Personally
I originally moved to Boulder in 1999 to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder. Although I've moved a number of times, and traveled extensively since then, Boulder has always been my home. I love everything our community has to offer, from the mountains and outdoors, to the restaurants, and the local music in the area.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me enjoying music, especially live music, travel, yoga, nature, and almost any opportunity to explore the world. I am also especially enthusiastic about the empowerment of women and girls in all walks of life.
My burning passion for travel and exploration has inspired me to travel and live in many parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Central America, Europe and North America. Some of my more profound experiences have come from living in a riot-ridden city in Cameroon and a mud hut in a small, rural village in Ghana, but each country and culture has deeply informed my perspective in life. Through my drive to explore the world, I’ve continuously found kernels of wisdom that I bring to my own life, and to the work I do for others every day.
